The Brazilian tech outlet Canaltech tested seven portable AC models officially sold in Brazil. Consumption was estimated using each manufacturer's stated electrical power, following the methodology of Brazil's PBE/Inmetro labelling programme, which assumes 2,080 hours of use per year (about 173 hours per month). Energy tariffs used correspond to five major regional capitals: Manaus, Fortaleza, Brasília, São Paulo and Curitiba.

The Hisense AP-08CWBRNPS00 came out on top as the most economical option, with an estimated monthly consumption of around 156 kWh. Monthly costs range from R$129.48 in Brasília to R$151.32 in Fortaleza, making it the cheapest to run in every city tested.
