Why Did Brazil Restrict Flybondi Ticket Sales?

Brazil's civil aviation authority ANAC issued an emergency precautionary measure on July 29, 2026, limiting the Argentine low-cost carrier Flybondi (FB Líneas Aéreas S.A.) from selling new tickets in Brazil. The decision came after ANAC found evidence of serious operational deterioration: the airline cancelled 79% of its scheduled flights between July 1 and 27.

What Exactly Is Flybondi Banned From Doing?

Effective immediately from July 29, Flybondi cannot sell tickets to three new domestic Brazilian destinations it had planned: Florianópolis, Maceió, and Salvador. The airline is also barred from launching any new routes, frequencies, or operations in Brazil.

Starting August 3, sales for the Buenos Aires (EZE) – Rio de Janeiro (GIG/Galeão) route will also be suspended.

Are Already-Purchased Tickets Still Valid?

Yes. ANAC confirmed that tickets already issued are not affected by the measure. Passengers holding valid Flybondi tickets should monitor the airline's communications closely, however, given the high cancellation rate recorded this month.

What Rights Do Passengers Have?

Flybondi remains legally obligated to offer free rebooking or a full refund within seven days for any new flight cancellations. Passengers can contact the airline through:

  • Phone: 0800-000-0425 (Mon–Sat, 08:00–18:00)
  • Online form or live chat on the Flybondi website

If the airline fails to resolve your issue, file a complaint directly with ANAC for regulatory follow-up.

Can the Restrictions Be Lifted?

ANAC stated the restrictions may be reviewed or revoked if Flybondi demonstrates it has taken concrete steps to restore operational regularity and eliminate the identified risks.
