How connected are Brazil's small businesses in 2026?
The Sebrae report "Digital Transformation in Small Businesses (2026)" shows that three in four micro and small enterprises (75%) use computers daily β essentially flat compared to the 2025 peak of 76% and well above the 70% recorded in 2022. For Small Business Enterprises (EPP, firms with more employees), adoption hits 95%, while among Individual Micro-Entrepreneurs (MEI) it sits at a lower 62%, reflecting their reliance on mobile devices rather than fixed infrastructure.
Is mobile the real driver of connectivity?
Internet access is near-universal: 94% of entrepreneurs are online. The smartphone leads the way β 81% use a mobile phone to browse and manage their operations, compared with 68% who use a computer and 25% a tablet. In the services sector, internet access reaches 94%, and companies with 50 or more employees report 100% connectivity. The Southeast region and the commerce sector each record 77% computer adoption.
Who is investing in online training?
More than half of entrepreneurs (54%) have completed at least one online training course β a sharp jump from just 33% in 2018, before the pandemic. Women are more active learners: 59% have taken online courses versus 50% of men. The appetite for training is highest among entrepreneurs aged 18β29 (57%) and those holding a postgraduate degree (77%). EPP owners lead the pack at 63%.
How widely is Sebrae's digital portal used?
Two-thirds of small business owners (67%) have accessed Sebrae's portal or digital services, up from 58% in 2018. Micro-enterprises (70%), the services sector (70%) and postgraduate entrepreneurs (85%) are the most frequent users.
