Why Are Tech Salaries So High in Brazil?

Brazil's tech sector now accounts for 6.5% of GDP, and companies across banking, retail, healthcare, agribusiness and manufacturing are all competing for the same pool of skilled workers. Between 2019 and 2024, demand for tech professionals reached 665,000 positions while supply came in at around 464,000 — a deficit of 30.2%, according to a study by Inteli (Instituto de Tecnologia e Liderança) in partnership with consultancy WKS.

Which Tech Jobs Pay the Most?

Inteli analyzed 72,700 job postings published between April and June 2025, narrowing the base to 19,655 verified tech vacancies. Top salaries reach R$ 53,000 per month. The research highlights that high pay is driven not only by AI roles, but by the full spectrum of careers that keep digital infrastructure running.

Does AI Dominate Tech Hiring?

Not quite. While 79% of professionals surveyed named AI as the most relevant field, actual job postings tell a different story. The areas with the highest share of open positions are:

  • Software Development — 35.7%
  • Infrastructure & Support — 23.2%
  • Data & Artificial Intelligence — 17.7%
  • Project Management — 12.9%
  • Testing & Quality Control — 5.7%
  • Information Security — 2.5%
  • Process & Systems Automation — 2.3%

Nearly six in ten vacancies are in software development and infrastructure alone.
