Ney Matogrosso, one of Brazil's most iconic and transgressive voices, is preparing a new studio album dedicated entirely to the songbook of Angela Ro Ro (December 5, 1949 – September 8, 2025), the celebrated Rio-born singer, composer and pianist who passed away last year at the age of 75. The project was announced by Ney himself in October 2025 during an interview with Radio France International (RFI), where he stressed that the idea had come to him before Angela Ro Ro's death.

The artistic bond between Ney and Angela Ro Ro goes back to 1980, when he recorded two of her compositions — Balada da arrasada and Não há cabeça — on his sixth solo album, Sujeito estranho.
