99Compras: São Paulo's new quick-delivery service

What is 99Compras and how does it work?

99Compras is a new quick-commerce service built directly into the 99 ride-hailing app. Unlike traditional restaurant delivery, inventory stays with the retailer and store staff pick the items before handing them off to a delivery partner. This means shoppers browse and buy without leaving the app they already use for taxis.

How fast is delivery?

Three speed options are available at launch. The ultra-fast tier promises delivery in 10–20 minutes, the standard tier arrives within one hour, and a scheduled option lets customers choose a specific time slot. With more than 200,000 partner couriers active on the network, coverage across São Paulo and 20-plus metropolitan municipalities is broad from day one.

Which stores are on the platform?

At launch, 99Compras has around 3,000 commercial partners in the São Paulo metro area. Big names include Americanas, Atacadão, Carrefour, Cobasi, Petz, St. Marche and Ultrafarma — covering supermarkets, pharmacies, pet shops, drinks, florists, beauty, toys and household goods.

How does 99 stand out from iFood and Amazon?

The quick-commerce battlefield already features iFood (which bought a minority stake in Shopper in 2024 and partners with Carrefour, Pão de Açúcar and Assaí), Amazon, Mercado Livre, Daki and Trela. Competition is fierce enough to spark legal disputes — Trela filed a complaint with the São Paulo Public Ministry against Shopper over alleged anti-competitive exclusivity contracts.

99's edge is its existing base of over 60 million active users in Brazil. Retailers also get flexibility: they can keep their own delivery staff or hand logistics entirely to 99. According to commercial director Talita Poleto, 57% of users turn to the service for one-off items they ran out of, 35% for regular household restocking, 5% for emergencies, and 3% for unusual purchases.
