How was the fake batch detected?

The alert was triggered by Eli Lilly do Brasil Ltda., the company that holds the product's registration. The firm detected units in the market carrying lot number D881474 — a real and existing lot in its systems — but paired with serial number 302199651396, which the company classified as incompatible with that lot. In other words, genuine lot numbers were attached to what appears to be a counterfeit product.

What should patients and pharmacies do now?

Any Mounjaro pen bearing lot number D881474 and serial number 302199651396 must not be distributed, sold, or used. If you have one of these units, do not inject it. Contact Eli Lilly do Brasil directly to verify authenticity.
